Abstract

The research aimed to determine the degree of rural womens' participation in social development, identifying constraints to them participation in social development, thus determine the correlation between studied independent variables and the degree of them participation in social development, to achieve the research objectives. The data were collected from a simple random sample of 357 rural women by questionnaire form from December 2021 to February 2022, frequencies, percentages, weighted mean and Spearman rank order correlation coefficient, were used for data presentation and analysis. The degree of participation in social development has been measured through three themes; the first is participation in social organizations and measured through three indicators, (1) membership in social organizations, (2) attendance at meetings of such organizations and (3) participation during such meetings; the second is participation in the community development projects, measured through two indicators, (1) Participation in different stages (planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation) of these projects, (2) Type of participation in these projects;  the third and final erasure is participation in the community social activities. The results showed a big decrease in the degree of membership of respondents in studied social organizations, degree of regularity in attending meetings, degree of participation during those meetings, degree of participation in the different stages of development projects and type of contribution you have made to these projects, while degree of participation in the social activities ranged from low to very high. The most constraints to the respondents' participation in development projects: lack of time to participate, not know how to administer injections and solution, not know how to convert crop residues into animal feed. Significant positive correlation was found at 0.01 level between degree of participation in social development and some theirs of the studied independent variables.
